2024-2025 Moot Court Competition, The Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court competition is named for the late Honorable Giles Sutherland Rich, Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The competition is an annual inter-law school event sponsored by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). There is no entry fee for the competition. The competition is made possible through the volunteer service of attorneys, judges, and AIPLA professionals.

AIPLA plans to conduct the competition in person.  The Regional and National Directors will provide more guidance at the appropriate time should anything change.  

Important Dates to Note:

Priority deadline for submission of Notices of Intent to Compete is Friday, December 6, 2024 (11:00 pm local time).

National Patent Application Drafting Competition, The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) started the National Patent Application Drafting Competition in 2014 to introduce law students to issues arising in U.S. patent law, and it has since evolved into a national law school competition. The competition gives law students an opportunity to develop patent skills by applying legal principles to a hypothetical invention scenario.

Mark T. Banner Scholarship, The Richard Linn American Inn of Court is proud to offer the Mark T. Banner Scholarship. This scholarship is part of The Richard Linn American Inn of Court's commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers of high ethics, civility and professionalism, and especially those from diverse backgrounds.

Law students who have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States and who will continue in that program through at least the Fall semester 2025 are eligible to apply for the Mark T. Banner Scholarship. Applications will be accepted from now through Dec. 6, 2024. The winner will be notified by April 2024 and the award will be announced at the Linn Inn of Court's annual dinner in Summer of 2025, or as soon as the Inn is able to host its annual dinner in light of the ongoing global pandemic and related restrictions.
